Walls and doors can be washed down with a hot soda solution. Before repainting, wash the surfaces carefully with fresh water.
A warm soda bath also removes limescale deposits from earthenware such as flowerpots or ornaments. Simply add one teaspoon (3 grams) to one litre of water and leave the earthenware item to soak for a few hours.

Can I use HEITMANN Soda to clean my bread basket?
Yes. With HEITMANN Pure Soda Crystals, you can clean your bread basket and make it food-safe. Only use HEITMANN Pure Soda Crystals for unfinished basketry, otherwise it could damage the finish.
Why does soda increase the performance of detergents and cleaners?
There are two reasons: First of all, it breaks grease down into fatty acids and glycerine. It then combines with the fatty acids to form soap, which makes cleaning more efficient. Secondly, soda softens water. Detergents and cleaners are therefore able to perform even better and can be used in smaller quantities.
Does soda soften water?
Yes. Soda softens water by precipitating limescale. This characteristic is particularly useful in relation to soaking laundry or softening water for the washing machine. Precipitation takes one to two hours in cold water, approximately 30 minutes in warm water, and just over two minutes in hot water.
What does food-safe cleanliness mean?
Food-safe cleanliness means that something is so clean that you can store food in it, prepare food on it or with it, and even eat food off it. With HEITMANN Pure Soda Crystals, HEITMANN Pure Soda and HEITMANN Pure Liquid Soda, you can clean dishes, pots, thermos flasks, or cutting boards hygienically and make them food-safe at the same time. No residue remains on the cleaned materials.
What’s the difference between Soda Crystals and sodium carbonate?
In comparison with conventional sodium carbonate, Pure Soda Crystals have much coarser grains. This means they dissolve very quickly, and form dust and clumps less readily. The crystals are even more effective at dissolving baked-on food (e.g. in pots and pans) and can be used as a washing power booster when added to washing machine detergent compartments.
